Das Tier
Music brings so many images, it inspires writing, serves as a background for thinking – sometimes better then the silence. But there are three songs, strangely all of them are by Blind Guardian, which bring only the specific pictures to my mind.
“A Dark Passage”. It makes me thinks of the steep spiral stairs, which goes deep down into the darkness. Like the one you can see in a dream where you can not keep your legs and fall down in a heartbeat, just to wake up in horror. It reminds me also of a striking moment from “LoTR”, of a piece of the great bridge of Moria going down to the depth of the black chasm.
“Battlefield”. Of course “Gwin, King of Norway” poem by William Blake. The verses both of the poem and the song let one hear the sounds of war: clash of iron, hooves beating and cries of the dying men, and see the blood running in floods, staining the grass and rivers.
“Turn the Page”. It makes me think of a flying ship. Not exactly the ship from the cartoon, just any. Hansi’ voice sounds so airy and fresh, it’s just impossible to imagine anything else but the clear blue sky and the wind. Come turn the wheel – and fly away.
